On the way in to work today I heard a really disturbing commercial. Their ad was for an online dating site, targeting people who are already in relationships but who wanted to have a “discrete affair.” The commercial even went as far as to guarantee that anyone who signs up would be able to have an affair or get their money back. Which begs the question – is it really that hard to fall into an affair? Haven’t people been doing that since the beginning? I thought staying faithful was the option that sometimes required some convincing.

Give me a break! I understand that there are people out there who may be in relationships that they may not want to be in, but if you want out of it so badly, man up (or woman up, depending on your gender) and leave. The fact that there are so many spineless people willing to sign up on this site (over 3.25 million people so far) is a sad commentary. Almost as sad was their slogan: “Life is short. Have an affair.”
